Types of PSW Service Schedules

Visiting / Drop In

  • Short Visits: Typically ranges from a few hours per visit.

  • Scheduled or As-Needed: Services can be pre-arranged daily, weekly, or requested on an as-needed basis.

  • Personalized Care: Tasks may include help with bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility support, and light housekeeping.

  • Flexible Support: Offers families and clients flexibility and affordability compared to full-time care.

  • Companionship: May also provide social interaction and emotional support, especially for isolated or elderly individuals.

This model is often used for seniors living independently, individuals recovering from surgery, or those with disabilities who need periodic help to stay safe and comfortable at home.

Full / Part Time Care

  • Daily, Long-Hour Support: Typically ranges from 6 to 12 hours per day, or even 24/7, depending on the client’s needs.
  • Comprehensive Assistance: Includes bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, medication reminders, mobility help, and companionship.
  • Household Tasks: Light housekeeping, laundry, meal planning, and preparation are usually part of the care.
  • Consistency: A regular PSW or small team of workers ensures continuity of care and builds trust with the client.
  • Ideal For: Seniors, people with disabilities, individuals with progressive illnesses, or anyone requiring consistent supervision and support at home.

Full-time PSW care can be provided in private homes, assisted living settings, or long-term care facilities, depending on the arrangement.

Live-In Caregiver

This person will resides in the home of the person they are caring for, on a full-time basis. Their role is to provide personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities, often for elderly individuals, people with disabilities, or those recovering from illness or surgery.
